The annual Hong Kong Flower Show is always a crowd-puller. It is a great attraction not only to lovers of flowers but also to photography enthusiasts. Of course there is possibly a substantial overlap of the two groups, and I would count myself being one of such. Over the week of the Show, Victoria Park, where the event is mostly held in recent years, is teemed with visitors of all ages. Photographers are abound, carrying powerful telephoto lenses or dedicated macro lenses to capture the fine details of the colourful displays. Even without such professional equipment, in every corner of the park, visitors are seen taking selfies or snapshots of the exhibits with their mobile phones.
Every year, the Flower Show has a special theme, which in 2019 was "When Dreams Blossom", and a specific featured flower, which was the Chinese Hibiscus 大紅花 this year. A recurring central showpiece is a large patch of carefully arranged tulips in multiple colours.

The Flower Show always comes with a photo competition. I entered the photo competition for my first time ever with the submission of a sole photo to the Flowers category. To be honest, being fully aware of the high standard of entries in such competitions, I didn't expect to win any prize at all. But then there was nothing to lose either. The eventual winners (
